Eagles Rider Group Ride Report From VP Ed Bulger

The June ride was an enjoyable and warm ride. Nine motorcycles left the Rumford Club after our June 7, meeting was held. We cruised through Mexico on Rt.2 into Dixfield. We took the Canton Point Rd. to Rt.140 then into Jay/Livermore Falls on 133. We continued on through to Winthrop where we stopped to stretch and chat a bit. From there we rode on to Augusta Harley-Davidson. The group checked out the venders and the food. The store was having a sale and a few of us took advantage of that. When we had seen all there was to see we rode on to Belfast. We stopped at a nice restaurant at the dock and enjoyed our meals. The ride home was pleasant with no problems to write about.

On June 28th the group participated in a poker run to raise money for the Autism Society of Maine. Through the efforts of our members and a donation from our Aerie we raised over $630.00 for this important cause. Our group left the Rumford Club at 10:30.We rode to L.A. Harley-Davidson where we presented the funds to representatives of the Autism Society , who were very pleased with the efforts of this group. After the Lewiston stop and getting our 1st cards we rode back to Mexico then on to Coos Canyon for our next card. After a short break we rode on to Rangely. The weather was getting damp but we made it to the Club House Restaurant to get the rest of our cards and take a nice rest stop without getting wet. From there it was a short ride to the Pavilion. The grand prize was on display but the odds were very high and no one matched the cards that would have won the custom motorcycle from Iron Horse a $25,000 prize. The group went in different directions after the event but some met the following day at the Rumford Aerie to talk about the ride and wish our President Bill Twidwell a happy 50th birthday. We should all be pleased with this group. Thanks to all who participated

Notice of Change in House Rules

Change to house rule, section "C" - members and guest

  •      Changed from:     2. Male guest from the area must take out an application for membership after the first visit.

  •  Changed to:    eliminate word male and now reads: 2. Guest from the area must take out an application for membership after the first visit to be able to return with an exception for events where guest are required to pay a cover charge.

This change now means members are allowed to bring guest to an entertainment event (where cover charges are required for the guest) as many times as they wish.  At all dances, guest are required to pay a cover charge of $5. Before, if a person has been signed in once, they were not allowed back in unless they took out an application to join.

Friday, August 24th, 2007, The Rumford Eagles hosted an evening with Bob Marley, direct from Comedy Central to raise money to aid breast cancer patients in Maine.  This event raised better than $3800 that was donated through the Pink Sock Foundation to the  Maine Breast Cancer Coalition.  Special thanks go to Ed Fontaine, John Gaskill and Matthew Plante for the many hours put in to pull this show together and make it a great success.
